Learner Permit Course & Testing [Animated examples of Test]
The learner permit is designed as a full day course which will teach you all the skills required for the test and more. You will be taught basic motorcycling skills such as, normal stop, emergency stop, cornering, riding at walking speed, counter steering and much more.
Testing requires you to complete four exercises. These exercises below can be viewed using flash, simply click on the red button.
Exercise 1 - Operation of Controls
Sitting on stationary motorcycle, you must be able to locate and operate the switches mounted on the handlebars such as: lights, indicators, horn, etc., as well as turn the fuel tap to the on, off, and reserve position. All controls must be operated without looking at them.

This tests your control when turning left, your use of brakes and your stopping judgement.

This tests your ability to maintain balance when riding slowly and your clutch/throttle control.

Exercise 4: Right Turn and Quick Stop This tests your control when turning right and your control when braking suddenly.

Fall off or drop the motorcycle. | |

Put your foot on the ground when riding. | |
|
•
|
Stall the engine (except Quick Stop). | |
|
•
|
Commence a marked turn without indicating. | |
|
•
|
Ride outside the marked side lines. | |

•
|
Stop outside the square in the Normal Stop. | |
|
•
|
Take less than 10 seconds for the Slow Ride. | |

•
|
Take more than 7 metres for the Quick Stop. |
